October 23-27

REMINDER - FRIDAY (tomorrow) IS OUR SERVICE PROJECT DAY! PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD WEAR THEIR SCHOOL T-SHIRT AND BRING A PAIR OF GLOVES TO PICK UP STICKS AND TRASH! IT IS ALSO AN EARLY DISMISSAL AT 11:40!

Next week is a very busy week!

We will have a Bible Test on Tuesday. A review paper was filled out yesterday for them to study from.  It is a lot of material and names since our unit was on many of the judges of Israel. PLEASE BE SURE THEY TAKE THEIR REVIEW PAPER BACK TO SCHOOL WITH THEM EACH DAY!

On Monday we will begin our second Social Studies Unit, this time focusing on the Southeast Region.  They will again need to know the names of each state, the abbreviation, and the capitol. The map will be one of the first things we do and I encourage the students to begin to memorize these!

Tuesday we will be going to the play at Northwestern College. Students should wear their school t-shirts and need a sack lunch.

On Monday the third graders will begin multiplication. The Skip-Counting is a huge help with this. Unlike addition and subtraction, using our fingers to count is difficult and does not work for division! THE MULTIPLICATION FACTS NEED TO BE MEMORIZED WITH RAPID RECALL! This takes lots of practice and drill. If you don't have flash cards at home, we will be making a set in class, but these need to be in school each day as well. I am asking you to practice flash cards with your child each night for about 10 minutes. Many skills going forward depend on a solid and fluent grasp of multiplication, so the more you practice, the more it will help your child now and in future grades!

Our Spelling Test will be on Friday, along with ourSkip-Counting Test of 2s - 9s.  The 9s have a special pattern! PLEASE MEMORIZE THIS IN THE GIVEN PATTERNS!

Our Memory Verse for next week is to learn Ruth 1:16-17.

Third Grade Spelling Words:  thick, this, truth, whales, shock, fish, what, sixth, them, washing, wheel, pathway, month, dishpan, weather

Fourth Grade Spelling Words:  shred, through, sprout, sprawl, split, throb, throat, shrink, screw, shrimp, screech, straighten, sprang, shriek, splashing, straps, strain, strand, script, thrill

Please check this website weekly for updates!  I will post information about our schedules, tests, items needed, etc, on here through out the year. I encourage you to practice Spelling Words, Skip-Counting, and Memory Verses through out the week and not wait until Thursday nights.  If possible, I try to avoid unit tests on Thursday because of GEMS and Cadets on Wednesday evenings. This is not always possible, however.

We have PE on Monday and Wednesday so tennis shoes are required.  Music is also on Monday and Wednesday, and Computer Class is on Tuesday and Thursdays.

Don't ever hesitate to call or email me if you have any questions or concerns!

God Bless!
